“Turkiye ve Arab dunyasi; Istek ve Degisim”

Londra Merkezli Turkiye Arastirmalari Merkezi (Centre for Turkey Studies- CTS) tarafindan gerceklestirilen onemli etkinliklerden bir yenisi Kralice Elizabeth’in himayesinde calismalarini surduren uluslarasi une sahip dusunce kurulusu Chatham House’da gerceklesti.

Turkiye arastirmalari merkezi  ve Chatham House isbirliginde gerceklestirilen 2 ayri toplantiya ilgili yogun oldu. Chatham House’un buyuk konferans salonunda gerceklesen ilk toplantiya aralarinda cok sayida akademisyen, siyasetci, dusunce kurulus uyeleri ve gazetecilerin bulundugu 150’yi askin seckin davetli katildi.  “Turkiye ve Arab dunyasi; Istek ve Degisim” baslikli konferansi, 1997-2001 yillari arasi Britanya Turkiye buyukelcisi olarak gorev yapan Sir David Logan yonetti. Konferansa  konusmasi olarak, Chatham House Avrupa dairesi Turkiye Programi sorumlusu Fadi Hakura, Ankara merkezli Siyaset, Ekonomi ve Toplum Arastirmalari Vakfi (SETA) baskani ve ayni zamanda Sabah gazetesi yazarlarindan Taha Ozhan, Sabanci Universitesi ogretim uyesi ve Istanbul Politikalar Merkezi Direktoru Profesor Fuat Keyman ile Taraf Gazetesi Ankara temsilcisi Lale Kemal katildilar.

Turkiye dis politiasinda son yillarda yasanan gelisme ve degisimlerin ele alindigi konferans’da komsu ulkelerde zaman zaman cekismeli ve catismali sorunlarla ugrasmasinin beklendigine dikkat cekilen konferans’da Arab dunyasinda yasanan hizli degisimlerin Turkiye ile olan iliskilerine yansimalari uzerine duruldu.
Bir saati askin suren konferansda Turkiye’nin Suriye ile gerilen iliskileri, Kurt sorununa demokratik cozum konularinin yanisira ekonomik gelismeler uzerine duruldu.
Konferans sonrasi ozel davetlilerin katildigi, yaklasik 3 saat suren bir yuvarlak masa toplantisiyla devam eden tartismalarda Turkiye’de ki son politik, ekonomik ve guvenlik konularina iliskin detayli tartismalar gerceklestirildi.

The speakers will explore the new dynamics of Turkey’s relations with the Arab world following the dramatic shifts of the past year, looking at opportunities and constraints on deepening engagement in the region. 
This event is organized in collaboration with the Centre for Turkey Studies.

The speakers will discuss the growing importance of Turkish foreign policy across the Arab world. The Arab revolutions, embraced by Prime Minister Erdogan's government, have given a new focus to Turkey's activist diplomacy, whilst strong economic growth over the past decade has brought the country new markets and partners across the Middle East and North Africa.
The speakers will consider how Turkey, as a key regional power, must now manage the sometimes conflicting demands and expectations in its broad neighbourhood. They will also look at opportunities and constraints on deepening engagement in the region.
